An Eco-economical Take on Postindustrial City District

The post-industrial territories of Irkutsk city have been struggling with a variety of problems: flooding, exclusion, lack of services, and connectivity. Following the aim of Winter Uni workshops, the project developed in the group, basing on the analysis of the site, has been answering the problem of the place in cross scale interventions. The strategy for the place has been the focus at first on improving the blue-green network to prevent the area from critical flooding. The ecological network has been combined with the communication network. At last, the proposition of economical transition into specialized wood production has been completed by identification and improved access to services for the local community. All the proposition has been balanced in the aim of a sustainable approach. The project has been pointed out as the best output of the workshop and will be used as a reference for local authorities.
